第三代CR200J与第二代车体结构基本相同，采用全新的涂装及内饰设计，优化坐席布置，全列所有座位均可旋转方向，乘坐体验更佳，优化空调系统和车窗，气密性更好，卧铺列车调整席位配比，优化车内空间，提升出行体验。
动力车与拖车也改用半永久牵引杆连接，同时对标CR400智能动车组，列车智能化程度进一步提升，在运用维护方面更便捷，对列车对网络、转向架、车载安全监测等系统进行了智能化升级，具备智能故障诊断及智能运维功能，无需人工检修，自动记录故障类型、位置与出现时间及图片、视频，结合传感器数据及图像数据，通过AI主动判断故障位置、类型并给出合理对策，同时还进一步优化车地协同，使列车在安全性和舒适性上都有进一步的提升。进一步优化制动系统，（部分列车）制动系统改为计算机控制，能够根据实际情况自动计算制动力。
