2011年07月23日,7·23甬温线特别重大铁路事故中,由CRH2-139E担当的D301次列车(北京南—福州)追尾由CRH1-046B担当的D3115次列车(杭州—福州南)。

D301次的CRH2-139E动车组(后车)1车至4车脱轨坠落桥下,5车悬空;D3115次的CRH1-046B动车组(前车)13车至16车脱轨。事后,CRH2-139E的1车至5车报废,11车至16车后被中国铁路总公司改造为被综合检测列车(CRH2J-0205),其余车厢被拆解;CRH1B-046的13车至16车报废,1车至12车被中国铁路总公司改造为训练列车。

2015年07月,由7·23动车事故中的事故车CRH2-139E改造的CRH2J-0205高速综合检测列车下线。

列车配属中国铁路总公司。安装了ATP、信号参数、无线场强、弓网关系、轨道几何形态、动力学及加速度检测的设备和线路监视系统,主要负责时速250—350公里级的高速铁路的轨道几何状态、动力学、接触网、信号、ATP、无线通信、线路环境等的周期性检测和新建线路的全方位检测。
