CRH2C型动车组是在CRH2A的250km/h平台基础上,进行改进研制,通过技术转移、引进吸收后实现国产化,由青岛四方机车车辆股份有限公司生产的高速动车组,一阶段最高设计时速320 km/h,二阶段根据实际情况调整为350 km/h,并将最后一组作为CRH380A系列外形实验列车。2007年12月首列车下线,至2011年共制造60组,其中包括3组高速综合检测列车。
