针对CRH5系列存在的问题,结合其他型号动车组列车的优点,CRH5系列后续经历过一次技术提升,CRH5二代在舒适性上有着巨大的提升。但由于此时中国标准动车组已经立项,CRH5二代产量较少,累计生产14组,折合16标准组,该系列全部列车均为耐高寒抗风沙设计,几乎能够在全国除青藏高原外所有地区运营。
