2014年06月公务版CRH380A诞生,是世界上第一款设计时速超过350 km/h的卧铺动车组,也是首款为国家领导人公务出行需求量身打造的高速动车组,在诸多方面进行优化改进,不仅满足日常乘坐的舒适度,还增加了办公和会议场所,同时,该车拥有较好的性能和乘坐体验,深受领导同志的喜爱,多名世界政要都曾在各种场合经乘坐过这款动车组。

2015年03月14日,公务版CRH380A试跑兰新高铁,最高速度394km/h,证明了CRH380A动车组在高海拔、大风环境下运行的能力。

2015年03月26日,公务版CRH380A前往海南,为2015博鳌亚洲论坛服务。

随着新一代“复兴号”动车组的问世,这两组公务版CRH380A动车组退役,并于2019年改造为高速综合检测车,以满足日益扩大的高速铁路版图的检测需求。该车安装了ATP、信号参数、无线场强、弓网关系、轨道几何形态、动力学及加速度检测的设备和线路监视系统,主要负责时速250—350公里级的高速铁路的轨道几何状态、动力学、接触网、信号、ATP、无线通信、线路环境等的周期性检测和新建线路的全方位检测。
