CRH3A技术提升型搭载全新设计的动力平台，提高了列车性能。据悉，CRH3A技术提升型的功率由普通CRH3A的5120 kW，提升至7200 kW，以满足在长大坡道的线路上以设计时速运行。2018年02月，换装全新动力系统的CRH3A-5257正式开始测试，2019年试验完毕后投入运营。
