全新造型

新头型和谐号CRH2A型动车组，CRH2A-2460，采用青岛四方为CRH2G新研制的头型，仅试制一列，该车并非CRH2G的试验车，与2014年10月11日招标的CRH2A一同交付，晚于CRH2H和CRH2G。该车仅头型与CRH2H样车（CRH2H-2361、CRH2H-2417早期）相同，与量产CRH2G头型有所不同，技术上与CRH2G并无明显关系，其他如空调位置、车门都与CRH2G有明显区别，无法与CRH2G重联运行，其他参数及性能与CRH2A统型相同，亦可与其他相近批次的CRH2A统型重联运行。

Existing problems and deficiencies

CRH2-NG系列虽然对外观与内饰进行了大幅度更新，但并未对列车网络进行升级，使用的依然是源自CRH2的落后网络，不仅列车检修维护困难，还需要使用（日本进口的寿命约为5年的内置不可充电且无法更换电池的）有源NFC卡片写入包括列车车次数据、广播信息以及显示屏内容的列车运行数据，卡片寿命到期后需要更换，且部分列车因年代久远，相关车载装置也存在问题，另外该系统与列车网络深度绑定，通信协议落后，且使用光纤传输，更换系统较为困难，导致列车无法更换车次信息，部分列车只能长期固定交路，限制了列车运行范围。
