发展历程

2010年07月，中国铁道部向BST追加订购40列CRH1A(CRH1-081A~CRH1-120A），订单总值7.61亿美元，折合约52亿元人民币，其中庞巴迪的份额为3.73亿美元。

第二批CRH1A增购车将于2010年09月开始交付，到2011年05月交付完毕，2010年之后交付的后期CRH1A取消了限速，除了列车最大运营速度因取消了限速而达到时速250 km/h之外，CRH1A-250动车组还在第一批的基础上在很多方面做了少量改进，将餐车由五车厢调整至四车厢，五车厢其中小客室由两个六人包厢与两个二人包厢组成。

2010年07月，中国铁道部向BST追加订购40列CRH1A(CRH1-081A~CRH1-120A），取消了限速而达到时速250 km/h。

2012年09月，原铁道部向BST再次订购新一批动车组，共包含时速250 km/h动车组106组，其中46列为CRH1A型动车组(编号CRH1-121A~CRH1-166A），另外60组为后期改款即CRH1A-A，同时广铁集团增购两列与早期CRH1A-200座位布局相同的CRH1A-250，编号CRH1-167A~CRH1-168A。

2015年05月21日，南昌铁路局开始招标，对青岛四方庞巴迪铁路运输设备有限公司（BST）生产的CRH1A-1081～1085、1093等6组动车组进行250 km/h级别统型动车组改造。后续其他列车也逐步拆除5车厢的包厢，改为普通二等座，但是CRH1A-1119包厢仍保留，按一等座售票（至2023年01月仍保留）。2024年04月，1119也拆除包厢。

编号调整

2014年07月01日，根据《铁总运（2014）150号》文件，所有CRH动车组的编号均作出了调整，CRH1A-250型动车组的编号方式发生变化：

原编号为CRH1-081A～CRH1-120A改为CRH1A-1081～CRH1A-1120，

原编号为CRH1-121A～CRH1-168A改为CRH1A-1121～CRH1A-1168，此后生产的动车组均依照新规定之格式安排编号。

Existing problems and deficiencies

由于原车型为短途城际列车，CRH1保留了类似地铁的加速度，但每节车厢每侧仅有一个车门，上下乘客的速度很慢，高峰期经常造成列车晚点。该车空调不能随着外界气压变化自动进入内循环模式，需要手动操作进入内循环，在隧道较长且较为密集的线路，司机无法及时操作，列车在高速运行中通过隧道，会使乘客产生强烈的耳鸣感甚至难以忍受。另外由于CRH1采用不锈钢车身，时速达130 km/h左右时，会和部分较旧铁轨产生共振，车身会产生振动，影响乘坐体验。
