CR400BF (Type II) EMU Train was born in Jult 2020, belongs to the CR400BF series, 4M4T in marshalling, the hole length is 211.06 m, has a maximum design speed of 400 km/h,

时速400公里可变轨距动车组(唐山)列车设计运营速度400 km/h,并且能够在不同气候条件(-25~50℃)、不同轨距(1435/1520 mm)、不同供电制式标准(AC25kV/DC3kV)的国际铁路间运行,具有节能环保、主动安全、智能维护等特点,是新时代我国高速铁路装备具有里程碑意义的重大创新成果。同时在研制过程中也对时速400公里下运行的车体结构、动力、空气动力学等多方面进行了充分的研究、设计与仿真,并在静态下进行了一系列试验,为后续CR400综合检测列车及CR450的研制奠定基础。

镁铝合金、碳纤维等轻量化材料大量应用,大大减轻了车体重量,具体一定的智能化能力,支持智能化自动辅助驾驶系统实时掌控运行状态,计算最佳操作方案,指导司机科学驾驶,该车还应用了全球首台时速400 km/h内置轴箱转向架,重量相较于传统转向架减轻25%,轮轨磨耗量降低约30%,轮轨冲击降低5%以上,使运用检修成本大幅降低。当列车在400km/h高速运行时,相较于既有动车组节能10%以上,单位能耗大幅降低。2020年07月下旬,该型转向架在滚动振动试验台上跑出了时速609.6 km/h的台架试验最高速度记录。

2024年01月,该车完成相关试验后,更换为普通转向架并更换为普通涂装,车号更改为CR400BF-0031。2024年04月初该车配属北京局集团(天津曹庄动车所)并于2024年04月20日载客运营。该车除车内外的显示屏等设施及部分内饰样式与CR400BF智能系列相同外,坐席规格和布局与普通CR400基本一致,商务座座椅和车内布局与其他列车有所区别。
