2017年05月起,中国标准动车组CR400AF正式量产。车体结构与样车大体相同,转向架取消了防脱线装置,侧梁与一系垂向减振器连接处的结构发生了变化,车内装饰风格也进行了一定的优化提升。

2017年06月25日,中国标准动车组正式命名为“复兴号”。

2017年06月26日至06月30日,复兴号动车组担当京沪高铁G123/G156次和G155/G124次。

2017年07月01日至09月20日,复兴号动车组担当京沪高铁G1/G142次、G107/G4次、G143/G2次和G3/G12次

2017年07月27日,根据中国铁路总公司安排,复兴号CR400AF、CR400BF动车组在京沪高铁开展了时速350 km/h实车、实重和实速检验检测、可行性研究和运营安全评估,开行G350727,G727350次列车。通过全面系统的科学论证和综合评估,经过专家评审,京沪高铁满足设计时速每小时350千米的运营要求。

2017年09月21日起,复兴号动车组担当京沪高铁G1/G2、G3/G4、G5/G6、G7/G8、G9/G10、G13/G14、G17/G18次,提速至350 km/h,重新占领世界轨道交通第一速度。

2017年12月31日,青岛四方庞巴迪生产的CR400AF-1001下线。

2017年02月02日,CR400AF-1001到达铁道科学院进行测试。

2018年03月17日,CR400AF-1001完成了在京的一系列测试,前往沈阳局集团。

2018年03月19日,CR400AF-1001在沈丹、丹大线进行测试。

2018年03月21日,CR400AF-1001加入京沈高铁辽宁段联调联试。

2018年07月01日,青岛四方庞巴迪生产的CR400AF投入运营。

CR400AF不同批次之间存在差异,首批30组二等座车因最开始设计定员85人,但实际增加一排座椅,调整为90人,车体已经按85人制造,因此窗、座相互不匹配(2001-2017、2022-2028、2030-2034、2213),部分座位无法享受较大面积的车窗。

2019年09月,京雄城际铁路北京西至大兴机场段开通,使用两组改造后的CR400AF,二等座为2+2布局且不可旋转方向,增加多个大件行李存放处(2145-2146)。

2021年起,新造的车辆均配备独立的司机室门,便于司机乘降,也提高了商务座乘客的私密性(1039-1040、2222-2241及之后批次)。

CR400AF-2228、2229、2230使用纵横机电TKD511型牵引变流器,其余使用时代电气tPower-T13型牵引变流器和TBQ55-6300/25牵引变压器。

2021年03月11日,昆明铁道职业技术学院订购的CR400AF用于教学实践的高速动车组正式下线交付,并于03月15日出发,22日抵达昆明,车辆进驻学院高铁实训中心组组装调试后投入教学使用,该校成为国内首家将高速动车组实车投入教学应用的学校,该车由一节头车和一节中间车组成,可以以最高速度15 km/h行驶,列车除了常规动车组的各类设备之外,还配备教学实训设备,同时将部分设备进行可视化并便于拆装,供教学实训使用。
